Hypnotherapy for Anxiety, Habits & Behaviour Change

Clinical hypnosis in Newcastle for anxiety, panic, smoking, phobias, sttress overload, unwanted habits and emotional eating

You know what you want to change. The frustrating part is finding yourself doing, thinking or feeling the same thing again.

Clinical hypnosis helps you work with patterns that have become automatic — anxiety that arrives before you can reason with it, a stress response that kicks in unaware, a habit you keep returning to, or a fear that feels far bigger than the situation in front of you.

When knowing better hasn't been enough

You know the cigarette isn't helping. You know the lift is safe. You know you're eating because you're stressed, not hungry.

And the reaction still happens.

That gap — between what you know and what you automatically do — is where hypnosis can help. Rather than giving you more information, we work with the attention, imagery, rehearsal and patterns surrounding the response itself.

What would you like to change?

  • Anxiety, Stress & Panic

Constant worry, overthinking, panic, tension or the feeling you're always waiting for something to go wrong?

  • Smoking & Vaping

Stopping is more complicated than deciding to. We work with the urges, routines and associations — not as a guaranteed one-session quit, but as a personalised behaviour-change approach.

  • Fears & Phobias

Flying, needles, heights, enclosed spaces, driving, public speaking. A fear doesn't have to make sense to feel completely real.

  • Emotional Eating & Weight

Food as comfort, reward or a way to switch off? Hypnotherapy isn't a diet — it works with the behaviours and cues around eating.

  • Habits & Repetitive Patterns

Nail biting, skin picking, reaching for your phone, putting things off — behaviours that happen before you notice the decision.

You don't need to fit neatly into one box

Anxiety can drive a habit. Smoking can become a response to stress. Fear can lead to avoidance. Emotional eating can show up when you're overwhelmed.

You don't need to decide whether what you're dealing with is technically an "anxiety," a "habit" or a "behaviour." Tell us what keeps happening, and what you'd rather be able to do instead — that's where we begin, and you stay in control of the pace throughout.

How clinical hypnosis may help

Clinical hypnosis uses deep relaxation, therapeutic suggestions and mental rehearsal to work with responses that have become automatic. It's a personalised behaviour-change approach — used alongside appropriate medical or psychological care, not as a replacement for it.

A meta-analysis of hypnosis for anxiety found meaningful reductions in symptoms, with stronger results when hypnosis was combined with other psychological approaches.¹ For smoking, a Cochrane review found hypnotherapy as better as other quit methods,² while a newer 2025 review reported more encouraging findings³. And in emotional eating, a randomised trial found improvements in food impulsivity among adults with obesity.⁴

We use hypnosis realistically — as supportive, personalised behaviour-change work, without promises like a guaranteed "one-session quit."
